Meeting Point Hanoi (Mekong Cultural Hub)
2024
Invited by Frances Rudgard & Jennifer Lee
282 Workshop, Hanoi, Vietnam
Mekong Cultural Hub invited Sinta & me as co-curators for the Creative Action Fellowship Program where together with 5 artists-fellows, we would collectively co-create experiences for the participants at Meeting Point. The selected artists coming from different backgrounds would come to Hanoi earlier for a full-time residency in preparation for the creative actions they wish to develop. During this residency period, we explored and exchanged perspectives from the grassroots and through art, creativity, physical action, or emotional sensing, collaboratively realising ‘creative actions’. The aim of these ‘actions’ will be to bring the Meeting Point participants into conversation and exchange on Meeting Point’s theme Perspectives from the Grassroots by making an experiential connection to the topic, as a contrast and a complement to the more traditional presentations, panels and intellectual dialogues that will also be included in the program. .
Meeting Point is a platform where people working with arts and society in Asia can find each other to discover new friends, exchange ideas and experiences and leave with fresh inspiration to take their work forward. MCH organises the Meeting Point every 18 months. The content and format of the sessions is developed by artists and
other practitioners, who work together over several months on the journey towards the Meeting Point.
The public program takes place over a two week period, including online sessions and decentralized local gatherings. It culminates with an in-person gathering which lasts 3 days.
